Shopify itself can be used in Trinidad and Tobago
The store platform can manage products, collections, orders, discounts, themes and apps. The separate question is which payment provider a Trinidad-based merchant can activate.
Shopify Payments is not currently listed for Trinidad and Tobago
Shopify’s supported-country page directs merchants in countries that are not listed to use a third-party payment provider. Check the current provider list for the store’s country before committing to a gateway.
Local banks publish ecommerce merchant options
First Citizens publishes an ecommerce gateway with TTD settlement and Scotiabank publishes Scotia eCom+ hosted payments. Republic Bank also publishes Republic EPay merchant services.
The gateway must fit the Shopify checkout path
Confirm whether the provider is available for Shopify, whether a supported app or integration exists, how 3-D Secure is handled and how payment status returns to the order.
Budget for all recurring charges
Include the Shopify plan, paid apps, gateway fees, third-party transaction fees where applicable, theme or development costs and ongoing support.
Test the live customer journey before launch
Verify product pricing, shipping or pickup, payment success and failure, order confirmation, staff notifications, refunds and mobile checkout before sending paid traffic to the store.
