Confirm the important pages return the right status

Service pages, guides and the homepage should normally return HTTP 200. Redirect old addresses deliberately and repair broken internal links rather than allowing important paths to end in 404 errors.

Check crawl and index controls

Review robots.txt, meta robots directives, canonical URLs and any authentication or firewall rules that can block search engines. A sitemap can help discovery, but it cannot override a noindex tag or inaccessible page.

Keep one canonical address for each page

Choose the preferred HTTPS and hostname format, keep internal links consistent and avoid creating several crawlable URLs for the same content through query parameters or duplicate routes.

Test the mobile experience

Check menu behaviour, form controls, fixed buttons, font sizes, image loading and layout stability on real phone dimensions.

Control image and script weight

Compress large images, use modern formats where practical, load non-critical assets carefully and remove scripts that add cost without helping the customer journey.

Add structured data that matches the page

Organization, Service, Article and Breadcrumb markup can describe visible information. Use each schema only where the matching information exists on the page.

Recheck after every migration or major release

Verify redirects, canonicals, sitemap URLs, forms, analytics, Search Console access and the pages that previously received search traffic before declaring the migration complete.
